Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Sino-Christian Studies (An International Journal of Bible, Theology & Philosophy)

1. Aims and Scope
Sino-Christian Studies is an international peer-reviewed journal published quarterly by Chung Yuan Christian University, Taiwan. The journal publishes scholarly research related to religion and the humanities, particularly in areas such as religion, philosophy, theology, literature, history, politics, economics, society, and culture, with special attention to Sino-Christian dialogue and intercultural studies.

The journal accepts manuscripts in English and Chinese.

2. Types of Manuscripts
The journal welcomes the following submissions:
Research Articles presenting original scholarly research.
Review Articles discussing important themes or developments in relevant fields.
Book Reviews on recently published academic works within the journal’s scope.
Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by another journal.

3. Manuscript Length
Research Articles: 6,000–10,000 words (including references and notes).
Review Articles: 4,000–6,000 words.
Book Reviews: 1,000–2,000 words.

4. Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts should be prepared using the following format:
File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)
Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt
Line spacing: 1.5 or double spacing
Margins: 2.54 cm (1 inch) on all sides
Pages should be numbered consecutively

The manuscript should include the following elements:
Title of the article
Author name(s) and affiliation(s)
Abstract (150–250 words)
Keywords (4–6 keywords)
Main text
References / Bibliography

5. Citation and References
Authors should follow the Chicago Manual of Style (Notes and Bibliography format).

Book
Smith, John. Christianity and Chinese Thought. New York: Academic Press, 2018.

Journal Article
Wang, Ming. “Theological Dialogue in Modern China.” Journal of Religious Studies 25, no. 2 (2020): 145–162.

All sources cited in the manuscript must appear in the reference list.

6. Tables, Figures, and Illustrations
Tables and figures should be clearly numbered and provided with descriptive captions. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission for any copyrighted material used in the manuscript.

7. Peer Review
All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process. The editorial board evaluates manuscripts based on originality, academic quality, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

8. Copyright and License
Upon acceptance, copyright of the article is transferred to the journal. Published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0), which allows non-commercial use, sharing, and reproduction with appropriate attribution.

9. Article Processing Charges
The journal applies Article Processing Charges (APC) for accepted manuscripts to support editorial and publication processes.
